We believe that sin is the transgression of the law. 1Jn 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. Apostle Paul says the “the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.” (Romans 7: 12) If anyone transgresses against the law of God, he is already committing a sin.
Sins are committed because of man’s weaknesses. This makes us alienated and wicked in the sight of God. When sin is committed, we are backsliding or turning away from the goodness of the Lord God. Sins can lead us to death (Ephesians 2:1)
We believe that there is a penalty for sins we have committed….death (Romans 6: 23) This death is spiritual and eternal – it is an everlasting punishment (Revelation 20:10). But through the grace of God, we can escape that death when our sins will be forgiven. Sins can be forgiven through repentance and baptism (Acts 2: 38), in the church of God (Acts 2: 41, 47). A person must truly repent and totally surrender himself to God to receive His forgiveness.
