One of Life’s Purpose

We often ask about the purpose of life, the meaning of our existence and the reason why God created us and place us on this earth. People are confused with the many answers that this life can offer. But oftentimes, many people have been misled because they picked what they think is right for them without knowing what really is the will of God.

People turned their ways from God and worship Him according to the law of men and not according to what really is designed for every one.

Most people lost track of what is important in this life. Many have just taken the worship of God for granted. We are God’s workmanship, a special creation destined for something great. Ephesians 2:10 - For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. We are ordained to walk according to His Holy Will. This is the ultimate reason why we are created, to fear Him and do whatever it is He commanded us to do. Ecclesiastes 12:13 - Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

The whole duty of every one is to fear God and keep His commandments.

Thus, it is our duty to know His commandments.

If we don’t know His commandments, then how can we do them?

One of the commandments is to GIVE.

Giving is an act love. And the greatest type of giving is giving someone’s life for the sake of another. John 15: 13 - The greatest love you can have for your friends is to give your life for them.

To love one’s self is also considered to be important. And if we don’t learn to love our selves, then we can’t love others too. The problem arises when that love turned to selfish love. That creates a problem.

It is also written, For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, (2 Timothy 3: 2). So, we should not be shocked if many people nowadays love themselves more than they love God and others.

Don’t worry, not all people love themselves selfishly.

Some people learned how to share the love through giving. And giving is the manifestation of love. We can’t just say we love other people without giving something. We must give something in order to show that we love others. helping the church through voluntary giving is one way to show our love. In giving or offering something for the church, it must be voluntary. God loves a joyful giver and we do it by faith. 2Co 9:7  You should each give, then, as you have decided, not with regret or out of a sense of duty; for God loves the one who gives gladly.

There are important things to know about giving:

In giving, it must be done out of love.

It must be done without expecting something in return.

It must be done according to faith.

It must be done unselfishly.

But, can we give something if we don’t have something to give?

Sure we can’t. We can’t give what we don’t have.

Giving is sacrifice. No one can say that he has nothing to give. Each of us can give anything. If it is in the power of our hands to help, then we have t extend our help. Otherwise, it will be a sin not to help. And helping others is a sign of giving, a true sign of love of others.

One of life’s purpose is to give.

Remember Jesus’ story of the widow who gave more than what she had?

Mar 12:41  As Jesus sat near the Temple treasury, he watched the people as they dropped in their money. Many rich men dropped in a lot of money; Mar 12:42  then a poor widow came along and dropped in two little copper coins, worth about a penny. Mar 12:43  He called his disciples together and said to them, “I tell you that this poor widow put more in the offering box than all the others. Mar 12:44  For the others put in what they had to spare of their riches; but she, poor as she is, put in all she had—she gave all she had to live on.”

This story tells us the true essence of giving. We don’t give something that is only an excess of what we have. We give because we care. We give to show our faith in God.
