No matter how long we live, life is still short.
Psa 39:4 -6 ” LORD, how long will I live? When will I die? Tell me how soon my life will end.” How short you have made my life! In your sight my lifetime seems nothing. Indeed every living being is no more than a puff of wind, no more than a shadow. All we do is for nothing; we gather wealth, but don’t know who will get it.
If there are important things we want to do, do it now while we live. We may not have tomorrow. We must not put them off for a better day. For example, if we asked ourselves, “if we only have six months to live, what would we do?”
Pretty sure, we will tell the person we love that we love them. Maybe we will deal with the undisciplined area of our lives, don’t we? Because life is too short, what sort of things must we do to make the remaining days fruitful?
Surely, our days are numbered. No one knows though when our time is up. But since, life has already begun – eventually it will end soon. Job 14:5 The length of our lives is decided beforehand— the number of months we will live. You have settled it, and it can’t be changed. The question when will it end depends on the life giver – God.
We live and die for Him
Rom 14:7-8 We do not live for ourselves only, and we do not die for ourselves only. If we live, it is for the Lord that we live, and if we die, it is for the Lord that we die. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. If we already know thepurpose of our existence, then we will know that it’s not all about us. Life is all about God. He gave us life because He wants us to walk according to His will.
But since men have been given the free will, many chose different path. They walked against the will of God. They made their own rules and did not follow God’s ways. The Bible tells us that we live and die for God alone. This is our purpose here on earth.
And since we live and die for God, we reinforce our lives with His words.
Life is too short to live it according to our own pleasure. Indeed, we need to enjoy what life has to offer. Ecc 2:24 The best thing we can do is eat and drink and enjoy what we have earned. And yet, I realized that even this comes from God. But we must know that there are more important things in life than eating and drinking, and that is, to serve God, the Lord who gave us life.
Don’t neglect what is truly important, that is to tell everyone that life is too short to live it according to each personal’s desires. We live in the state of grace, meaning, God let us live because He wants us to realize that there are things in life that we need to prioritize and this we have to learn.
Many people don’t know this because they are preoccupied by many things and did not even bother to search for God.
Life is too short, don’t think that we will live forever. We tend to spend time and money as if we will live forever. Life is not like that. Life is too short, don’t waste time worrying about what people may think of us. Hold on to what really matters in life, and that is to have the right relationship with God.
